Israeli singer-songwriter and former Fauda star Idan Amedi returned to the stage in Jerusalem on Thursday – his 37th birthday – in his first performance since he nearly died while serving with the IDF in Gaza.
Amedi was seriously injured in an explosion on January 8, 2024, that left him unconscious and unrecognisable with severe burns. The incident claimed the life of six IDF soldiers, and wounded several others.
On stage, he recited the ‘Shehecheyanu’ blessing, a prayer of gratitude traditionally said upon reaching a new season, holiday, or special occasion. The audience responded with joy, breaking into a heartfelt rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’ in Hebrew.
