“We Know Who They Are” (WKWTA) by Conflicted Art, founded by Yevgen Nemchenko and GW Corcoran’s Studio Arts student Benjamin Cunningham, is an immersive multimedia project highlighting Russian war atrocities in Ukraine. On display in Gallery 102 until September 27th, the exhibit features contemporary Ukrainian art, including paintings, drawings, sculptures, and collages as well as artifacts like Russian jet fragments. The exhibition hopes to reveal the hidden truths of a war so critical to international security, saying, “May their artworks and storylines reveal what they have done.”
Benjamin Cunningham, one of the co-creators, is one of our very own! Both an accomplished student and artist, Ben was awarded the Luther Rice Research Fellowship, and intends to utilize the exhibition as a reference point for examining wartime artwork as a sociological device for stimulating activism and advocacy.
