When the final horn sounded Saturday, Feb. 22, Fox Lane knew two things: It had advanced to the Section 1 Class AA girls basketball quarterfinals and, in all likelihood, will have to play that game without one of its biggest stars. No. 12 Lakeland, tied with No. 5 Fox Lane at the end of one quarter and then at the half, fought back from a nine-point deficit at the end of three quarters to pull to within five points three times within the game's last three minutes. But then the host Foxes, keyed by two huge Morgan Clinton offensive rebounds, pulled away for a win. Fox Lane will play in the quarterfinals Thursday at No. 4 Mahopac (a 54-48 winner over No. 13 Horace Greeley.)
