March On Celebrates Civil Rights Trailblazers 🤎 James Meredith, born in 1933 in Kosciusko, Mississippi, overcame numerous challenges to become a key figure in the Civil Rights Movement. After serving in the U.S. Air Force, he enrolled at the University of Mississippi in 1962, becoming the first African American student to attend, despite violent opposition. He graduated in 1963, embodying self-respect and dignity. Meredith’s legacy continued with his March Against Fear in 1966, a courageous stand against white supremacy and a call for Black voter registration in Mississippi. Despite being shot during the march, Meredith's determination remained unwavering. Though he rejects the title of "hero," his actions, from challenging segregation to his advocacy for Black education, have inspired countless others in the fight for civil rights and equality.
