March On! remembers the incomparable Roberta Flack, a voice of grace, power, and deep emotion. Her music touched hearts and changed lives, including ‘Killing Me Softly’ to ‘The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face.’
Roberta Flack was a school teacher before turning to performing full time at the age of 30. She discovered Lori Lieberman's "Killing Me Softly With His Song" on a plane from L.A. to New York, and made it her own. "I was not limited to just taking the song off of the page of music," said Flack. After seeing the crowd reaction to her cover of the song while on tour with Quincy Jones, Jones convinced her to record it.
Her legacy as a trailblazer and storyteller will live on forever. Her songs will remain anthems of love, resilience, and beauty for years to come. Rest in power. 🕊️
