International Polar Bear Day, observed every February 27, is a global call to protect the Arctic’s most iconic predator. As sea ice rapidly declines due to climate change, polar bears face shrinking habitats, food scarcity, and increasing human-wildlife conflict. Scientists warn that without urgent action, many polar bear populations could vanish within our lifetime. Beyond their ecological role as apex predators, polar bears are also a powerful symbol of climate action. Their survival depends on global efforts to reduce carbon emissions, protect Arctic ecosystems, and curb industrial threats like oil drilling and shipping expansion.
