#fastfeetfriday Dialing it in for the start of ISL season next week— which means refreshing everyone on the importance of IN SEASON TRAINING. Top end speed starts to drop off right around 7 days, which means that if you aren’t exposing yourself to your top speed at least once a week, you will get slower. Most athletes think that the running that they do in practices and games count as “speed training,” however it’s very rare that an athlete actually hits their top speed in those scenarios. Most of the time they hit maybe 80% of their top speed and even that is rare. In season training goals are to MAINTAIN strength and speed from the off season, not necessarily gain speed and strength. In order to make sure that this is done, it’s recommended to hit top speed, or at least 90% of your top speed once per week in season.
