A recent retiree was fishing a tournament on Santee-Cooper Lakes when he caught his personal best largemouth, and the heaviest ever caught in the leauge.⁠ ⁠ Veteran tournament angler Gary Pope is 62 years old. He’s been fishing South Carolina’s Santee-Cooper Lakes for more than half that time, and he says the heavyweight largemouth he caught there during a tournament Saturday is the biggest he’s ever pulled from the lakes.
