Through the month of February, #OUA schools have celebrated Black History Month in a variety of ways. Here are some of the highlights ⭐️ The queensgaels men’s basketball team recognized Black History Month during one of their games, during which Lireesa Gokhool-Jefferson performed an outstanding spoken word she had written. The spoken word was inspired by the power of legacy and the steps that Black artists and educators took to pave the way to allow us to be here, to rise, and to shine. The curavens hosted their Black History Month Speaker Series, featuring Shauna Bookal, the President & CEO, Inclusion in Canadian Sports Network and Ekow Nimako, a Lego Artist focusing on African culture, history, and futurism. wluathletics hosted their Embrace Your Culture Night at a Golden Hawks basketball game.
