🇲🇭The flag of the Republic of the Marshall Islands flies at half-mast aboard the Rainbow Warrior, in remembrance of the devastating Castle Bravo nuclear test.
.
🌅71 years ago, the U.S. detonated a nuclear bomb 1,000x more powerful than Hiroshima. The explosion lit up the sky like a second sunrise—what Marshallese people call the "Day of Two Suns". Radioactive fallout poisoned the communities all over the Marshall Islands, forcing them to live in contamination for years leading to severe health issues, environmental destruction, and the displacement of entire populations.
.
🌈Greenpeace and the Rainbow Warrior, then and now, has stood with the Marshall Islands. In 1985, Greenpeace helped the people of Rongelap evacuate, after finding their land uninhabitable. Today, while new threats like deep-sea mining and climate change emerge, we return to stand with them once more in their ongoing fight for justice.
