Metro has purchased 553 acres in Clackamas County and plans to convert it into a natural area to protect the area’s watershed and improve its ecological health, the regional government announced Tuesday.
Restoring that land, which abuts the Clackamas River near Estacada and includes the Eagle Creek Golf Course, will improve the river’s water quality, support wildlife and mitigate the effects of droughts and flooding, according to a Metro press release.
