The More Than Lumpia documentary profiles Jacksonville’s queen of photography and my longtime friend agneslopezphoto as she explores her own Filipino heritage, and the deep connections between food, identity, and community. Through her own testimony and the Filipino chefs she’s worked with for years, the film solidifies how a single person’s efforts can inspire a movement—one that brings culture to the forefront and strengthens the ties between generations. I’ve always admired Agnes, not just as a photographer, but as someone who actively chooses to use her skillset to elevate people and culture. Co-directing this with Agnes is a privilege. More Than Lumpia is a continuation of the work I believe in—elevating marginalized voices, proving why our histories and cultures matter, and showing how impactful a single person can be.
