“What if The Philippines does end up being the destination for the world’s trash?” We talked to artist @newleeroy about his #BeyondConcrete installation Balete Bulate Bituka, which explores the relationship between nature and waste. The piece sparks a dialogue about the ways in which our waste is increasingly entangling with our natural environments. Inspired by science fiction and Philippine mythologies, New looks at how we can transform or re-use waste and how our environments combine organic and plastic materials. See this large-scale installation coiled around the Gardiner at The Bentway now until September 24! Link in bio to learn more.
