Rena and Claire are paving the way in family and gender-based violence reform.
Rena De Francesco and Claire Waterman are both Directors at Victoria Police’s Family Violence Command – a job they share, the only executives in Victoria Police to do so.
They have worked at Victoria Police for almost 30 years between them, mostly in gender equality and gendered violence, where they have been drivers of change in Victoria Police and the sector.
Claire was one of only four people in the family violence unit when she first started at Victoria Police. Now, Claire, Rena and others are leading a command of people committed to the safety of family violence, sexual offence and child abuse victims and ensuring perpetrators are held to account.
They describe their job share as a partnership, where they are consistently collaborating and supporting one another to achieve the best outcome in their work.
