Nothing quite like landing on the Moon. In this video, you see the moment that FireflyAerospace’s Blue Ghost Mission 1 touched down on the surface of the Moon on March 2. These shots are from different cameras and angles on the lander. Blue Ghost traveled more than 2.8 million miles (4.5 million km) from where it launched at NASAKennedy to the lunar surface — and carried with it 10 NASA science and technology instruments. These instruments are gathering data to prepare for a long-term human presence on the Moon by testing things like lunar dust mitigation, radiation tolerant computing, and lunar drilling technology. All NASA instruments onboard continue to be healthy and have already collected data. The Blue Ghost mission is a part of NASA’s commercial lunar delivery initiative to send science and technology to the Moon.
