The Rye and Tappan Zee girls basketball teams didn't play each other during the regular season. But that didn't mean they didn't know each other. Tappan Zee, after all, eliminated Rye from the playoffs each of the past two years. Tuesday, March 4, at Westchester County Center, Rye turned the tables. Led by Phoebe Greto's play on the boards and Paige Tepedino's turnover-creating defense and timely 3-pointers, Rye advanced to the Section 1 Class AA final with a win. No. 2 seed Rye, now 20-3, will play No. 1 Panas for the championship Saturday at 5 p.m. at the County Center. Tappan Zee, the No. 3 seed, which sank 13 3-pointers in the game, finished its season 15-8.
