One of the most decorated athletes in BC history, Sam Apuzzo is surprisingly shy off the field—a stark contrast to her on-field confidence that comes with powerful celebrations. “A literal light switch goes off and my focus narrows into the game. It’s preparation that gives me confidence. In that moment I know I’ve done everything I needed to do.” Her preparedness comes from a thirst to always be learning. “I never want to feel like I know everything.” And as the assistant coach at top program bcwlax, she wants to help everyone around her continue to learn and grow, too. It’s what makes her the kind of coach who’s constantly dropping knowledge and eagerly awaiting the day her players will smash her records.
