“Let us humbly ask God our Father that He be pleased to bless, with the abundance of his grace, these ashes, which we will put on our heads in penitence.” Our Ash Wednesday Liturgy was celebrated today by Assistant to the President Fr. Richard Zanoni, S.J., in Scaccia Auditorium. Ash Wednesday marks the first day of Lent, a 40-day period of reflection and fasting before Easter, where worshippers receive ashes on their foreheads in the shape of a cross as a symbol of repentance and mortality. Students participating in the Mass included: Arno Mbaiyo ’26 (First Reading, from the Book of Joel), Oliver Reynolds ’26 (Responsorial Psalm), and Patrick Cullinan ’27 (Second Reading, from the Second Letter of Paul to the Corinthians), as well as Rondel Fancher ’26 and Anthony Pepe ’26 (both read the Prayers of the Faithful).
