We are sad to report the passing of legendary jazz-funk pioneer Roy Ayers at 84. Ayers' family confirmed that the vibraphonist, composer, and producer died on March 4 after a lengthy illness.
Known for his innovative sound, Ayers made a lasting impact with Roy Ayers Ubiquity's 1976 hit "Everybody Loves the Sunshine," covered and sampled by artists like D’Angelo and Mary J. Blige. His legacy in music continues to inspire new generations.
