Mayor Muriel Bower issued an official proclamation honoring the win, which serves as celebration and reflection of how far the team has come in just a few short years. “When I first got to Howard University, we were just a few students meeting in a basement, playing games wherever we could find space. Now, we’re traveling to national tournaments,” said Lawrence Curtis, the club’s current president. The Bison squad not only secured first place as a team, but they also brought home an individual honor, all while being the only HBCU in the tournament.
