An audience member pays $12 dollars for a ticket at Arapahoe High School, but the way that money is used might be a mystery to most.
The Arapahoe High School Thespians are putting on their spring production, County Fair: A Country Hits Musical, on March 13, 14 and 15. A musical containing all the country songs that have topped charts and have become classics.
Director of the show and AHS theater teacher, Will Brooks, broke down the costs of running a production further.
The current expected cost of County Fair is $8,000, and with a company that grows exponentially every year, the return from ticket sales is expected to yield at least $14,000.
“When I got here, the story I had heard was that we had no money and no one could buy anything for anything,” he said.
After a series of extremely successful shows, the theater program has been able to grow and keep improving, as well as being self-sufficient for most of its productions.
