Dr. Ellen Schecter ‘66, ‘14H is one of our five Honorees for the 5th annual Women Who Lead Forum. She will be speaking about her vast experience in broadcasting, publishing, and writing. She has been widely published in print and on the web. Many of her twenty-four published books are for children, and her first novel, “The Big Idea” won the Américas Award for Children’s and Young Adult Literature. Her memoir, “Fierce Joy” was a finalist for the Eric Hoffer Award. Ellen’s work in television won multiple awards, including “Reading Rainbow”—Head Writer, Associate Producer, and “The Magic School Bus”. Her other many multi-award-winning television series for children and families were broadcast on PBS, CBS, CBC, and the Learning, Disney, Discovery Channels. Ellen recently completed her fifth novel, “Jumping Off The Edge of the World”.
