desmoinespublicschools is closing down the district's agriscience program for a year, despite the pleas of FFA students and others involved in the ag-focused initiative. Students dressed in their FFA uniforms implored the Des Moines School Board and administrators to rethink their decision to pause the agriscience program for the 2025-26 school year during Tuesday's board meeting. School district officials announced their plan late last month to temporarily shut down the almost 50-year-old ag program as part of larger changes Central Campus is undergoing because of the district's Reimagining Education, Reinvigorating Schools plan. Officials plan to expand the school's engineering academy and construction trades, and bring back its early childhood education programs for the 2025-26 school year. The plan also calls for closing and consolidating several of the district's 60 schools. Tap the link in our bio for more on this story. #Iowa #IAed #DMPS #DesMoines #FFA
