Clarkstown South senior Isaih Francis came into the New York state swimming championships, held Saturday, March 8, as the defending 100-yard backstroke champion. He left Ithaca College as a two-time champion in the event and with a state record on his resume. "It really hasn't sunk in yet," Francis said. "The feeling I got from it last year was truly unreal, this year as well." Francis, who will swim for Binghamton University next year, won the event in 48.59 seconds. The meet got started with a third place finish for Francis and his teammates Lucas Park, Max Johnston and Lucas Keahon in the 200 medley relay. Their relay time was 1:34.98. Section 6's Frewsburg won the event in a record breaking time of 1:31.28. "Our relays really came together at this meet and I'm so happy with how they all went," Francis said.
