Built in honor of the city’s firefighters, it was funded by Lillie Hitchcock Coit, a fearless philanthropist and honorary firefighter with a lifelong love for SF’s fire crews. 🔥🚒 Inside, you’ll find incredible Depression-era murals, painted in 1934 as part of the Public Works of Art Project. These colorful frescoes showcase scenes of daily life in 1930s San Francisco and are a hidden gem of the tower. 🎨🏙️ Thinking of heading to the top? The usual elevator is currently undergoing renovations, so visitors can climb 13 flights of stairs to reach the 360° panoramic views.
