While many spent the long weekend attending a range of activities and events throughout the state, we were busy ensuring motorists were on their best behaviour and staying safe on the roads. ⁣ ⁣ Almost 5000 traffic offences were detected over the four-day road policing operation, with speeding offences contributing to almost half.⁣ ⁣ Police conducted 69,166 preliminary breath tests, with 152 drivers detected over the limit. 197 drivers returned a positive roadside drug test.⁣ ⁣ Sadly, two lives were lost on the roads, bringing the total to 61, up from 58 at the same time last year.⁣ ⁣ With plenty of warm weather still on the horizon, we’re asking all road users to remain vigilant, and remember:⁣ 🛏️ Get plenty of sleep before a long drive.⁣ 🗺️ Plan ahead and take regular rest stops.⁣ 🍺 Organise a designated driver or alternative travel if you’re drinking.⁣ 📱 Put your phone away and avoid distraction.⁣ ⁣ You can find out more about Operation Arid and get the full list of traffic...
