Thursday morning, about 150 students spilled onto the sidewalk and MacArthur Boulevard in front of the school, holding signs, country flags, and chanting, “Oakland High has made it clear, immigrants are welcome here!” The Town is no stranger to student demonstrations, and in the last several years, young people have taken to the streets to protest the war in Gaza, school closures, sexual harassment, and police brutality.
