Maybe, just maybe, if Albertus Magnus didn't have Julia Scott, the Wednesday, March 12, Class AAA state girls basketball regional semifinal at Yorktown High would have been a close game.
For sure, it would have at least have been closer. But, as it was, Scott laced up her sneakers as usual for the Falcons. As is the norm, that was bad news for the opposition.
The 6-foot-3 junior controlled the boards and had 26 points as the Falcons beat Section 4's Elmira, in a Class AAA subregional at Yorktown High School. Scott got 17 of her 26 points in the first half and sat for long stretches with the game out of reach.
Albertus Magnus jumped out to a 41-15 lead after two quarters and advances to a state regional final.
