Webcor, the general contractor of People’s Park’s Housing, filed a restraining order against Berkeley chess club co-founder Jesse Sheehan Feb. 26. The restraining order alleges Sheehan verbally and physically assaulted and stalked Webcor employees and contractors over a series of incidents from September 2024 until late January 2025. The restraining order mandates Sheehan stay at least 100 yards away from People’s Park and the Webcor office, which is located on Telegraph Avenue about 40 yards away from the chess club. These limits have caused the chess club to essentially cease functioning, as Sheehan is responsible for its setup every day.
