Be-wreath-taking. NASAWebb captured this spiral galaxy 220 million light-years away from Earth, in the constellation Pegasus, in infrared with its Near-Infrared Camera, Near-Infrared Spectrograph, and Mid-Infrared instruments.⁣ ⁣ With these new tools, scientists observed new star-forming clusters and the destruction of small dust grains a few hundred light-years from the nucleus – showing how an Active Galactic Nucleus (AGN) is affecting the surrounding space.⁣ ⁣ AGN's are an extremely bright central region illuminated by dust and gas descending into a galaxy's central black hole – galaxies like this give astronomers the ability to study how AGN's interact with areas of extreme star formation.⁣ ⁣ Image description: A spiral galaxy unfolds at the center of the image, with six bright red lights streaking from the center of the galaxy.
