This week we're worried bout the future of the SNAP benefits program. Recently, head of Health and Human Services RFK Jr. said “We shouldn’t subsidize people eating poison.” This was said in reference to people using SNAP benefits (also known as food stamps) to purchase candy, soda and other "junk food." SNAP benefits are housed under the USDA and not Health and Human Services. Head of the USDA Brooke Rollins said she was willing work with RFK Jr. on this mission. But we've been here before and it was determined not the be a great idea to bar the purchasing of "junk food" on food stamps for a number of reasons.
