YORKTOWN HEIGHTS – Tappan Zee is doing it again. The Dutchmen wore down an equally determined Baldwin team Saturday and sent the Long Island champion home, posting a 44-38 win in a floor-burned NYSPHSAA Class AA regional final at Yorktown High School. Winning a game at this stage of the season without making a single basket in the fourth quarter is unthinkable, but if any team is built for this it's Tappan Zee. “It’s unbelievable,” Dutchman senior Jack Piccione said. “The exhaustion, like on your mind and on your body, it’s tough but we stuck together the entire way. We want to make it hard. It’s a fight. It’s a fight every game.” Yep. Tappan Zee is back in the NYSPHSAA semifinals for the second time in three years. The Dutchmen won the Class A title in 2023 the same way they’re winning games now.
