Dr. Joann B. Sweasy ‘80 is one of our honorees for the 5th annual Women Who Lead Forum this upcoming Saturday, March 22. She is the Director of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) Designated Fred and Pamela Buffett Cancer Center and the Director of the Eppley Institute for Cancer Research at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Dr. Sweasy holds the Robert F and Myrna L. Krohn Chair in Cancer Research and is currently the Vice President/President-elect of the American Association of Cancer Institutes. Dr. Sweasy is an internationally recognized expert in DNA repair and has been continuously funded by the NIH since the start of her independent career for her research on the genetics, cell biology, and biochemistry of DNA repair and the roles of aberrant DNA repair in cancer and autoimmunity.
