General (Ret.) Mark A. Welsh III is the 27th president of Texas A&M University. He has been part of the Aggie Family long before stepping into his role as our president. Following in his father's footsteps, he embarked on a distinguished military career, which ultimately led him to the very the place his father once described as "a shining city on the hill." For Welsh, "Texas A&M stands for pride and patriotism and faith and family and loyalty and honor and respect and integrity and courage. Things that people don't talk about everywhere else. We talk about them here all the time and we should. And I think we're finding that more and more people around this country. are looking at us and saying, you know, we want to talk about that stuff. And we're saying, that's great news. Come stand with us."
