On today’s Solemnity of Saint Joseph, the patron saint of the Society of Jesus, here’s a look at a group of CHS students who volunteered at Saturday’s St. Joseph's Table hosted by the Centro Culturale Italiano di Buffalo at downtown's St. Anthony of Padua Church – where they were able to meet the Mayor of Buffalo. Our students met with Mayor Christopher P. Scanlon during CCI’s annual St. Joseph’s Table event, a traditional Italian-American dinner gathering in honor of Saint Joseph held near his feast day. A Saint Joseph's Day "table" is a custom which often features an elaborate display of food, especially breads and pastries, to honor Saint Joseph, spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
