Shea Laursen ’26 spent his Winter Term pursuing a micro-internship at TV20 News. "Being able to spend my January getting practical job experience that relates to my interests and skills rather than being in typical classes has been truly unique and enriching," Shea says. At TV20 News, he had the opportunity to enhance his knowledge on cameras, editing, interviewing, and he got an overall feel of what it means to be on a professional production team. He interviewed business owners, scouted future shoot locations, captured footage for event recaps, helped shoot a cooking show, and learned about equipment. "I have always enjoyed capturing content and working behind the scenes of media projects, and this micro-internship has allowed me to see how this is done through a news station. Not only has this experience improved some of my technical skills, but it has also showed me what a professional environment is like, and that has been very worthwhile."
