Jews celebrating Passover yesterday at the Congregation Chabad in Poway, California were shot by a white nationalist killer inspired by shootings in houses of worship in Christchurch and Pittsburgh. The spirit of Passover commemorates being a "stranger in a strange land and remembering the stranger"--a spirit of empathy. We cannot let go of that spirit. We must address hate crimes.
