Way above the clouds, deep in the Appalachian mountains, lies the best kept secret in American soccer. A community that took matters into their own hands when the local men’s college soccer program was cut during COVID and decided to build a club that’s unabashedly theirs. Even the elusive Sasquatch, who’s roamed these hills in secret for millennia, comes out of hiding just for these games. And after last night, we finally understand him. The view alone from the main stand is probably the greatest in the country. Those luscious forests and rolling hilltops surrounding Ted Mackorell Soccer Complex are the closest thing to Eden a fan could ever experience. But like many fervent supporters told us last night, if the scenery is what grabs you, the people are what keep you.
