North Little Rock Fire Department Responds to Historic St. Joseph Orphanage Fire nlrfiredepartment At approximately 5 p.m. on March 19, crews responded to a reported attic fire at the historic St. Joseph Orphanage at 6800 Camp Robinson Road. The first arriving units encountered heavy smoke and flames coming from the century-old structure’s roof. Incident Command was quickly established as crews set up essential water supply for aerial operations and initiated an aggressive interior attack. Primary and secondary searches of the building were completed to ensure no one was inside. With the wind-driven fire advancing rapidly, defensive operations were put in place. Aerial units were utilized to help bring the blaze under control. Maumelle Fire Department also responded to assist. Firefighters worked tirelessly throughout the evening to extinguish the flames and preserve as much of the historic property as possible.
