Between 1939 and 1942, the third generation of Bachman sons—Harold, Carl, Lloyd, Stanley, Roy, Lawrence, and Ralph—served in World War II. During this time, their fathers continued the growing operations with additional help. The retail and floral design operations fell largely to the daughters of Bachman's—Addie, Luella, Carolyn, Betty, and Elinor—who stepped up alongside dedicated employees. Additionally, Doris, Jean, Marion, and Louise, who had married into the Bachman family, contributed significantly. Everyone worked together to keep the business thriving. By 1942, all but one of the Bachman sons returned home safely. Roy tragically was lost in the Battle of Luzon in the Philippines, where he was struck by a mortar shell. In honor of his bravery, he was posthumously awarded the Silver Star. Their service and sacrifice remain an important part of Bachman’s legacy, a testament to the resilience and dedication that have shaped our family business for generations. . . . #FlashbackFr...
