Incidences of colorectal cancer have been rising among younger adults in recent decades. Poor diets, obesity and sedentary lifestyles are believed to be among possible contributing factors. The good news is that death rates have been steadily decreasing in both men and women due to earlier screenings and advancements in treatment options. With these two trends in mind, the americancancersociety recently lowered the recommended age for a first colonoscopy from 50 to 45.
