The Council also approved a resolution which would begin changing the manufacturer of fixed surveillance cameras around Berkeley to Flock Safety and reallocating a number of existing camera locations to Downtown Berkeley and one to the intersection of Durant and Telegraph Avenues. District 7 Councilmember Cecilia Lunaparra said her constituency, which is primarily students “do not feel safer” with the extension of surveillance cameras to Southside; she instead proposed a motion to remove the camera on the intersection of Durant and Telegraph Avenues from the resolution, which failed to pass.
