In honor of Women’s History Month, we want to highlight a very special alumna who made history for the Redcoat Band. Shirley Hires Simms was a majorette and the Redcoat Band’s first female drum major. She was in the Redcoat Band from 1952-1956. We honored her on the field at Homecoming this past season and we are so excited to share her iconic story this month.
