What a sick time in Italia for the redbull Cerro Abajo of Genova! My first race back in 5 years also! I was having so much fun all day on my bike. I felt dialled, smooth, precise and fast everywhere. The bike was perfect and I was having a blast. Could have done 20 laps of this track. Unfortunately during the qualifying, I tried to scrub as hard as I could the first stair set one second after the start and I hit my chin guard so hard on the stem, it lifted my helmet causing me to not see properly and I miss the first corner. From then on it was game over. I had to ride the first section of the track without seeing well and readjust the helmet 30 seconds in when it got flat. I knew I had lost too much time, and it was pointless to risk it on such a fast but simple track. Feeling insanely disappointed in myself for making a mistake on my favourite move on a bike: a scrub, but really stoked on my riding.
