Ever felt competitive with someone? Well, you’ve got something in common with Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo. Two of history’s greatest artists were once locked in a rivalry. Want an even deeper dive? Here’s more to the story: One day in Florence, Leonardo and the artist Raphael were discussing the work of Italian poet Dante Alighieri when Michelangelo walked by. Leonardo said, “Michelangelo will be able to explain it for you.” Michelangelo, however, just brushed them off with, “No, you explain—you, who undertook the design of a bronze horse but couldn’t cast it, forced to give up in shame.” In 1482, Leonardo had been commissioned to create a 24-foot bronze horse, “Gran Cavallo,” but he never finished it. 👀 #ArtBeef . . . . #art #history #leonardo #michelangelo #beef #competition #news #painting #explore #explorepage
