The Carson Wandering skipper is a rare butterfly. There are only three populations left, one outside of Reno, one near Honey Lake by Susanville and one just outside of Carson City. Although this endemic butterfly is small, it highlights the significance of the tiny details that shape our world. Full episode available in the link in our bio, along with an audio-described video.

CC: Nate says “We’re looking for Carson wandering skipper. What are we looking for here besides a cloud of mosquitos?” Lara says “He’s on the backside of those flowers like 10 feet out. So the upper side is basically plain orange with little black margin and some white fringe on the outside.” Nate says “These tiny orange butterflies are hard to spot but they are beautiful. It is a good reminder to appreciate the small details that make up our world. Although rare and endangered remember it’s out there.”
