In 1986, I won the American League Rookie of the Year award with the Oakland Athletics while hitting .240 with 33 home runs, 117 RBIs, and 15 stole bases. One year later, Mark McGwire joined us full-time in Oakland, putting together a monster first season of his own, taking home the 1987 AL Rookie of the Year while batting .289 with 49 home runs and 118 RBIs. Between 1987 and 1992, we led Oakland to four division championships, three AL Pennants, and a victory in the 1989 World Series. I appeared in three All-Star Games and won the 1988 AL MVP, and Mark McGwire played in six consecutive All-Star Games. Great times.
