Hi. I’m Jamey. I take pictures of race cars for a living. And quite often, those cars are on the other side of a fence. And there isn’t always a photo window to use or shoot through at every corner at every track. Or even every part of a corner you might want to use. This trick is also great for kid’s sports , and zoos. Or anything where there is a fence between you and the subject!
So. To summarize.
📍 Use a longer focal length. The wider the lens, the more you’ll see the fence. I’d recommend a 70-200 At minimum.
📍 Use a wide open aperture (f2.8, F4) to help see past the fence. It’s just a lens magic trick. The more you stop down the aperture, the more you’ll see the fence.
📍 Alternatively, you can use a SLOWWWWW shutter speed to blur the fence with panning. But that only works with objects that are moving.
