Think of it like a telescope. These long lenses are looking sooooo far past what’s immediately in front of them, they just don’t see it. But also. The sensor is a rectangle. The lens hood is a circle. Put a rectangle inside a circle, there are dead zones within the lens hood that can’t be seen by the sensor. So why do I hold the lens like this?
