"Breaking (AKA breakdancing) will make its debut at the Summer Games in Paris this year and I had the honor of photographing B-girl Sunny Choi (_sunnychoi) a top contender at the Games for an assignment with Time magazine. As a female Asian American and former elite gymnast, I felt especially connected to Sunny’s story as she is a Korean-American and Queens native who was once a gymnast too. I know she’ll have a leg up on the competition with her skilled gymnastics background which she performed with ease for me in front of the Unisphere in Queens – a historical landmark where breakers danced back in the day.
